Abstract
BACKGROUND: Metastasis to lymph nodes is a bad prognostic factor in patients with gallbladder carcinoma who undergo radical cholecystectomy. During the past decade, studies have brought focus on lymph node ratio (LNR) as an additional valuable prognostic factor in these cases. Our research studied the factors that predicted the recurrence of disease and survival of patients with gallbladder carcinoma who were treated with surgical resection, concentrating especially on the lymph nodal status as a prognostic factor and LNR in node-positive T1-T3 cases.Entities:

Fig. 3Kaplan-Meier survival curves according to the LNR in patients with stage IIIB gallbladder cancer. Five-year DFS rate was 44% in patients with an LNR <0.5, but the median survival time was not reached. The 5-year DFS rate was only 10% with a median survival time of 8.4 months in patients with a LNR >0.5 (p <0.005)
