Abstract
BACKGROUND: Toxoplasma gondii infects 30-50% of the world's population with high diversity in the geo-epidemiology and seroprevalence. The burden of toxoplasmosis and its determinants from remote and vulnerable regions of India is unknown. Therefore, this study aim to evaluate the prevalence of toxoplasma antibodies and factors associated with seropositivity among individuals from Uttarakhand and adjoining areas.Entities:

Figure 1:Flow diagram of the study design depicting the enrolment of cases
Seroprevalence of IgG and IgM antibodies to Toxoplasma gondii among 442 patients using ELISA
| Antibodies | No. of seropositive, n | Seropositive (%) | 95% CI (%) [ |
|---|---|---|---|
| 154 | 34.84 | 30.40 – 39.28 | |
| 28 | 6.33 | 4.06 – 8.61 | |
| 19 | 4.30 | 2.41 – 6.19 | |
CI: confidence interval, ELISA: Enzyme-Linked Immuno-Sorbent Assay
* positive for either of IgG or IgM
+ Confidence interval of ‘proportion’ is calculated using the normal approximation to the binomial calculation
