Abstract

This is a retrospective chart review of 161 MICU patients who underwent tracheotomy by the Otolaryngology service at the University of Missouri Hospital from April 2015 through March 2018. The objectives of this study were to describe long term outcomes of patients who underwent tracheotomy, and identify any clinical variables associated with these outcomes. One-year mortality was 37% (50/161), and on multivariate analysis only age (p=0.001) was associated with mortality. Copyright 2021 by the Missouri State Medical Association.
