BACKGROUND: Witnessing delirium can be distressing for family caregivers (i.e., relatives or friends) of critically ill patients. | ≥18 years old | |
| Family caregiver present | |
| Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale Score ≥ − 3 | |
| Able to provide informed consent | |
| Able to communicate with research staff | |
| Anticipated to remain in the ICU for at least a further 24 h | |
| No new primary neurologic injury | |
| Glasgow Coma Scale score > 9 |
