Abstract
Comparing response durations between treatment groups in a randomized clinical trial can be inappropriate and give misleading results concerning the relative durability of responses. Due to patient variability, the treatment producing more responses will usually also have responsive patients of poorer prognosis. A treatment that increases the probability and duration of a response can appear to produce responses of shorter duration based on an analysis of duration of response.
