Abstract
Postmortem imaging has been used primarily in forensic medicine since 1895. Conventional x‑ray, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are used. In studies, sonography is not considered to be of particular value, especially because of postmortem gas formation in adults. We report three cases in which postmortem sonography within three hours of death allowed clarification of a previously unclear cause of death.Entities:
