Abstract
BACKGROUND: In 2012, we identified the dissemination of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) sequence type (ST)45 strain in 14 nursing homes in Taiwan and foreign nurse workers, a significant risk factor for MRSA carriage. We conducted this study to understand MRSA carriage and molecular characteristics among foreign workers recruited from Southeastern Asian countries.Entities:

Figure 1.Geographic distribution of foreign workers from Southeastern countries recruited to Taiwan stratified by age and arrival time. A total of 98.6% of workers in the arrival group (n = 929) arrived in Taiwan within ≤1 day. The arrival time of the staying group (n = 1006) was approximately 180, 540, and 900 days according to the government statute.
