Drug Overdose Deaths in the United States, 1999-2019.

Abstract

Deaths from drug overdose continue to be a public health burden in the United States (1-5). This report uses the most recent data from the National Vital Statistics System (NVSS) to update statistics on deaths from drug overdose in the United States, including information on trends from 1999 through 2019 by sex and age group, and by specific types of drugs involved (i.e., opioids and stimulants). All material appearing in this report is in the public domain and may be reproduced or copied without permission; citation as to source, however, is appreciated.
