Figure 1The concept behind the lateral osteoperiosteal flap. The procedure aims to translocate a fragment of alveolar bone (B) from an edentulous donor site for root coverage (Panel 1). A 1 mm thick island of alveolar bone with length corresponding to the recession depth (C to A) and slightly broader than the width of recession at gingival margin is elevated along with its investing flap (Panel 2).
