Abstract
BACKGROUND: Mechanisms contributing to the perioperative stress response remain poorly understood. This study investigated changes in the amount of bacterial DNA in blood and the diversity of blood microbiota in the perioperative period in patients undergoing minimally invasive surgery for colonic cancer in an enhanced recovery after surgery setting.Entities:

values are mean(s.d.).
One unit is defined as 12 g ethanol. §Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) score ranges from 0 (fully active) to 5 (dead); a score of 0 indicates ability to carry on all predisease activities without restriction.
