Abstract
Neutrophils contain microbicidal proteins packaged in numerous cytoplasmic granules. During phagocytosis, granules fuse to phagolysosomes where the granule contents contribute to the destruction and dissolution of ingested bacteria. The properties of the microbicidal proteins cathepsin G, BPI, and defensins are described and contrasted.Entities:
