Figure 2Experimental setup used for voluntary breath stacking. The monitoring system, based on inspiratory capacity (measured with a respirometer), was coupled to a one-way valve connected to an analog manometer. A bacterial filter was used for patient coupling. For involuntary breath stacking, a resuscitator bag was connected to the respirometer outlet.
