Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Different theories have been proposed on the etiology of tinnitus, including metabolic and audiologic causes. We suggest that mean platelet volume and neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio levels change in tinnitus, indicating microcirculatory disturbance and inflammatory process in the etiopathogenesis of tinnitus.Entities:

MPV, mean platelet volume; NLR, neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio; Fl, femtoliter.
Data are presented as n (%) or mean ± standard deviation (median, range).
Figure 1The mean platelet volume (MPV) of healthy controls and patients with tinnitus. As the percentage of subjects with normal MPV level was lower in tinnitus group than the control group, those of low or high MPV level was significantly higher (p = 0.008) (fL, femtoliter).
