Abstract
BACKGROUND: Adolescent participation in pro-social activities such as sport can promote identity formation, self-efficacy and social support, but its benefits in India remain unassessed. We examined longitudinal effects of adolescent sport participation on economic, social and political engagement, marital health and family planning among young adults in India.Entities:

Note:
p ≤ 0.05; Figures in parentheses are 95% Cis; analyses for family planning and intimate partner violence were conducted on married sub-samples; among boys, age at marriage was classified as before and after 21 years as regression analyses could not be conducted with before or after 18 years categorization due to a number of null responses. Categorization of 21 years is considered legally relevant in India.
