Abstract
The aim of this review is to provide clinicians with an overview of the role of coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring across the spectrum ranging from asymptomatic individuals to chronic chest pain patients. We will briefly introduce the technical background of CAC scoring, summarize the major guidelines per type of patient at risk and discuss latest research with respect to CAC. Finally, the reader should be able to determine when CAC scoring is indicated or may be of added value.Entities:
