Multivariate analyses were conducted using logistic regression model utilizing stepwise‐backwards elimination method adjusting for age, gender, smoking, khatt use, alcohol, body mass index, coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, prior stroke/transient ischaemic attack, hypertension, dyslipidaemia, chronic kidney disease or dialysis, sleep apnoea requiring therapy, vulvular heart disease, abdominal lower limb swelling, weight gain, serum creatinine, systolic blood pressure on admission, admission blood glucose, sinus status, prior medications (diuretics, digoxin, oral nitrates, calcium channel blockers, beta blocker, aldosterone antagonist, angiotensin‐converting‐enzyme inhibitor, angiotensin receptor blocker, aspirin, clopidogrel, and ivabradine) for the in‐hospital model while for the 3 and 12 months logistic models, medications at hospital discharge were used
