Abstract
Cough is a normal protective reflex that can effectively remove foreign bodies and secretions from the airway. However, excessive cough adversely affects a patient's physiological, psychological and social functions. Thus, it is important to effectively evaluate the severity of cough to determine its diagnosis and treatment. Cough severity can be assessed with subjective or objective tools.
