Abstract
OBJECTIVE: Even when medical treatments are limited, supporting patients' coping strategies could improve their quality of life. Greater understanding of patients' coping strategies, and influencing factors, can aid developing such support. We examined the prevalence of coping strategies and associated variables.Entities:

I act as though this hasn't even happened. I say to myself “this isn't real” I pretend that this hasn't really happened to me. I refuse to believe that this happened to me.
I accept the reality of the fact that this has happened to me. I learn to live with my situation. I get used to the idea that this has happened to me. I accept that this has happened to me and that it can't be changed.
I concentrate my efforts on doing something about my situation. I take action to try to make my situation better. I try to come up with a strategy about what to do in my situation. I think hard about what steps to take in my situation. |
