Fig. 1In modern society, many individuals suffer from both psychosocial stress and obesity. Agrimi and co-workers developed an elegant mouse model of obesity combined with psychosocial stress and identified the BDNF/TrkB pathway as a player in the pathogenesis of cardiac and neural dysfunction in this model. Further studies are needed to validate the therapeutic potential of this pathway in obesity- and psychosocial stress-induced cardiac and neural dysfunction.
