Abstract
BACKGROUND: Despite daily vitamin D recommendations, women with osteoporosis may not achieve optimal 25-hydroxy-vitamin D (25[OH]D) levels. We retrospectively evaluated the effect of education and vitamin D supplementation (1,000 IU/day) in Korean women with osteoporosis.Entities:

General characteristics of patients (n=61)
The data is presented as mean±standard deviation, median (interquartile range), or number (%).
a)Exercise, ≥2 times and 60 min per week. P=0.491 (tested using Mann-Whitney U test).
25(OH)D, 25-hydroxy-vitamin D.
Change in 25-hydroxy-vitamin D levels post intervention (n=61)
The data is presented as number (%) or median (interquartile range).
a)Education only, education for sunlight exposure for >30 min per day (taking cholecalciferol 800–1,000 IU/day). b)Education with additional vitamin D supplementation, same education with additional vitamin D supplementation (taking cholecalciferol 1,800–2,000 IU/day). c)Baseline level, 25(OH)D level before intervention. d)After intervention level, 25(OH)D level after education only or education with additional vitamin D supplementation. All interventions were provided for 3 months. e)Tested using Wilcoxon signed-rank test.

Achievement of optimal 25-hydroxy-vitamin D level post-intervention
The data is presented as number (%). Optimal 25(OH)D level, ≥30 ng/mL.
a)Education only, education for sunlight exposure for >30 min per day (taking cholecalciferol 800–1,000 IU/day). b)Education with additional vitamin D supplementation, same education with additional vitamin D supplementation (taking cholecalciferol 1,800–2,000 IU/day). c)Baseline level, 25(OH)D level before intervention. d)After intervention level, 25(OH)D level after education only or education with additional vitamin D supplementation. All interventions were provided for 3 months. e)Tested by Fisher's exact test. P-value is not adjusted for overall significance level.
