Grip strength standardized by age and sex.
Values are presented as median [interquartile range (IQR)] unless stated otherwise. Categorical measures are compared using Pearson’s chi-squared test and continuous measures using the Kruskal–Wallis test, with the exception of age, which was compared using analysis of variance.
Adjusted for age, sex, ethnicity, BMI, smoking and self-reported pre-existing diagnoses of CVD, diabetes and hypertension. Stratified into thirds of the distribution of grip strength. Non-linearity of the association for eGFR, age and BMI was modelled as specified in the Supplementary data, Methods.
