Abstract
OBJECTIVES: Bile duct cyst (BDC) is a rare congenital biliary malformation with 20% of cases initially diagnosed during adulthood. Although the incidence of BDC in adults is increasing worldwide, the clinical features of adult BDC remain unclear. The present study was aimed at characterizing the demographic and clinical features of this rare disease.Entities:

Figure 1Characteristic findings of imaging modalities in patients with BDC. (a) MRCP reveals anomalous union of the pancreaticobiliary duct, and common bile duct dilatation involving both the left and right intrahepatic bile ducts. (b) CT scanning reveals cystic dilatation of the extrahepatic bile duct. (c) Endoscopic ultrasonography shows common bile duct dilatation. BDC: bile duct cyst; MRCP: magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography; CT: computed tomography.
