Abstract
BACKGROUND: Patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) are vulnerable to fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) and psychiatric morbidity. We investigated the prevalence of high FCR and demographic, clinical, psychological, and psychiatric factors associated with high FCR prior to the start of the treatment.Entities:

Patients who completed primary outcome.
Patients who did not complete the primary outcome.
Based on t tests (for continuous variables) and chi‐square or Fischer test (for categorical variables).
Able to carry out all normal activity without restriction.
Restricted in physical strenuous activity but ambulatory, able to carry out light work.
Ambulatory and capable of all self‐care but unable to carry out any work.
Results of age‐adjusted associations of all potential predictors with FCR score (CWS‐total) for patients newly diagnosed with HNC (n = 216)
