Abstract
In the meninges, a unique subset of tissue-resident macrophages serves as a sentinel population against invading microorganisms while suppressing harmful inflammation. A recent report shows that when murine meningeal macrophages are killed by viruses, circulating monocytes repopulate the open niche. However, they fail to mimic all aspects of tissue-resident macrophages.Entities:
