Abstract
BACKGROUND: Juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) is a rare autoimmune disease that causes significant morbidity and quality of life impairment. Little is known about the inpatient burden of JDM in the US. Our goal was to determine the prevalence and risk factors for hospitalization with juvenile dermatomyositis and assess inpatient burden of JDM.Entities:

Fig. 1Annual prevalence of hospitalizations for patients with primary/secondary diagnoses of juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM). Survey weighted logistic regression was performed to compare the prevalence of hospitalization for JDM over time. Hospitalization rates for patients with a primary or secondary diagnosis of JDM did not significantly increase after 2003 compared with years 2002–2003 (generalized linear models, P < 0.05)
