Abstract
BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is remarkably frequent in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Albuminuria is a marker of vascular endothelial dysfunction and predictor of CVD events. Albuminuria is prevalent in patients with COPD as it has been shown in Caucasian and Oriental populations with COPD. The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of Albuminuria and COPD severity correlates among black patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in order to see whether a similar trend of albuminuria is also prevalent in this population.Entities:
