Reducing the Oversupply of Prescription Opioids.

Sara McEwen1, Steven Prakken2.

Abstract

Prescribers have played an important role in the development of the opioid epidemic. Efforts to reduce the oversupply of prescription opioids are underway in the form of guidelines and legislation. Such efforts must be part of a larger public health approach that supports best practices and access to addiction treatment. ©2018 by the North Carolina Institute of Medicine and The Duke Endowment.
