Abstract
BACKGROUND: Socioeconomic status (SES) imbalances in developed and developing countries may result in individuals being overweight and obese. However, few studies have investigated this issue in Japan. We herein examined the relationship between SES and being underweight, overweight or obese according to sex and age groups (20-64 or ≥65 years) in Japan.Entities:

CI, confidence interval; JPY, Japanese yen; OR, odds ratio.
The results of a multinomial logistic regression analysis are shown.
aOR1: Odds ratio adjusted for age (per 5-y intervals), and the square root of the number of household members (only in the analysis for household income).
bOR2: Odds ratio adjusted for age (per 5-y intervals), education level, marital and living statuses, household income, and the square root of the number of household members.
