Abstract
Hypothalamic AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) is an important modulator of whole-body energy homeostasis, particularly within the ventromedial nucleus, where it regulates energy expenditure, glucose, and lipid metabolism. A recent paper in Cell Reports has demonstrated that AMPK in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus modulates dietary preference for carbohydrate over fat.Entities:
