Abstract
BACKGROUND: Worldwide, Indigenous people have disproportionately higher rates of transport injuries. We examined disparities in injury-related hospitalizations resulting from transport incidents for three population groups in British Columbia (BC): total population, Aboriginal off-reserve, and Aboriginal on-reserve populations. We also examined sociodemographic, geographic and ethnic risk markers for disparities.Entities:

Person-years is the sum of the annual population counts times the fraction of each year included in the observation period.
Observed number of injuries.
Expected number of injuries, indirectly standardized, based on age, gender and HSDA-specific rates in the total population of BC.
Crude Rate per 10,000 person-years.
