Abstract
A case of rapidly progressive periodontal disease associated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection is presented. Rapid horizontal bone loss, with only moderate inflammation, occurred during a 13-month period. Pocket depth was significantly less than anticipated, given the degree of bone loss. The patient had no signs or symptoms of acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS). The cause, features, diagnosis, and management are discussed.Entities:
