General characteristics of children with developmental articulation disorder
Values are presented as number (%) or mean±SEM.
AD, articulation dysfunction; SEM, standard error of the mean.
a)p<0.001 indicates values significantly different from those of AD and AD with language delay group.
Percentage of consonants correct (%) according to chronological age
Values are presented as mean±SEM and the parenthesis indicate a number of children.
AD, articulation dysfunction.
p-values are not significantly different from those of AD and AD with language delay group.
Fig. 1The percentage of normal consonants per total number of each consonant, according to age and diagnosis. The acquisition of consonants was following the universal sequence of development in both groups. The percentage of normal plosive and affricate consonants per total number of each consonants was more in AD with language delay group than in AD group, in the age group of 60–71 months (p=0.025 in plosive and p=0.012 in affricate). AD, articulation dysfunction. *p<0.05 indicates values significantly difference from those of AD and AD with language delay group.
Number of children corrected for expressive language age of number of normal consonants in the AD with language delay group
AD, articulation dysfunction.
