Abstract
Mounting evidence indicates that mitochondria contain multiple phosphorylation substrates and that protein kinases translocate into mitochondria, suggesting that protein phosphorylation in this organelle could be fundamental for the regulation of its own function. Here we examine the mechanistic role of cellular kinases in the fine regulation of key mitochondrial activities, including mitochondrial quality control, fission/fusion processes, metabolism, and mitophagy.Entities:
