Abstract
BACKGROUND: Knowledge about the impact of Low-Molecular-Weight Heparin (LMWH) on the coagulation system in patients undergoing minimal invasive lung cancer surgery is sparse. The aim of this study was to assess the effect of LMWH on the coagulation system in patients undergoing Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS) lobectomy for primary lung cancer.Entities:

Values for the operating time are provided as mean (standard deviation) and tested using a t-test. The other values are displayed as median (minimum to maximum) since data was not normally distributed. Difference was tested using Mann-Whitney U-test.

2Includes myocardial infarction, apoplexia cerebri and atrial fibrillation.
3Both were atrial fibrillation.
4Apoplexia cerebri (n = 2) and atrial fibrillation (n = 3).
5Died postoperatively (probably due to bleeding (tamponade)).
6Includes small cell carcinoma, neuroendocrine and sarcotomoid tumor.
