Abstract
The urological resectoscope was used over three years for 27 transanal operations in 12 patients. The procedure was quick, safe and effective. Haemorrhage was not a problem, and histology was obtained in every case. It seemed to be the treatment of choice for low anastomotic strictures in the rectum (two cases) and for palliation of inoperable low carcinomas (three cases). Its use for villous adenomas (six cases) both alone and as an adjunct to open surgery is discussed in detail.Entities:
