Abstract
The robotic surgical technology introduced over the last decade and a half has revolutionized many aspects of performing complex procedures. It combines technological and clinical innovations to improve surgical quality and patient outcomes. Yet, to date, there is still a lack of standardization in training and certification of robotic surgeons. The criteria for proficiency and credentialing in robotic surgery vary widely among institutions. The aim of this review is to discuss the key points of training and surgeon assessment in robotic surgery, as well as the challenges that still need to be overcome.Entities:
