[The salt appetite of rats with spontaneous arterial hypertension].

A A Bachmanov.

Abstract

In two-bottle free-choice experiment, spontaneously hypertensive (SHR) rats developed an enhanced sodium, potassium and calcium appetite in comparison with normotensive WKY rats. The revealed peculiarities of the salt appetite seem to depend on the mechanisms of the blood pressure rise and have various adaptive values for the development of arterial hypertension.
