Abstract
Over the past 20 years, 16 pregnancies with thrombocytopenia were observed. Fourteen of these cases were afflicted with immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP, M, Werlhof). Antenatal treatment of the mothers (e.g., with corticosteroids) varied and is discussed. The methods of delivery were spontaneous vaginal (nine) or cesarean section (five). Except for one neonatal death (28th week of gestation), no significant hemorrhagic morbidity occurred. On the basis of this experience and the literature, an individual management of delivery for parturient patients with ITP is proposed.Entities:
