Abstract
Chronic laryngeal symptoms are often attributed to gastroesophageal reflux disease based on nonspecific testing by laryngoscopy resulting in overdiagnosis of this condition. Identifying optimal means by which we can diagnose reflux in patients with chronic laryngeal symptoms is an unmet clinical area. One such technique might be measurement of oropharyngeal acid exposure employing a novel pH monitoring device. We outline the strengths and limitations of this new technology relative to the observational cohort study by Yadlapti et al. published in this issue of the Journal.Entities:
