Figure 1Proportion of male participants with diabetes, prediabetes, and prediabetes or diabetes, by age group, Cameron County Hispanic Cohort, 2004–2015. This figure shows that prevalence of prediabetes is above 30% across age groups and that more than 50% of men younger than 35 years in this population have either diabetes or prediabetes.
Figure 2Mean levels of ALT and AST, by age group, male participants of the Cameron County Hispanic Cohort, 2004–2015. Mean levels of ALT and AST are highest in men younger than 35 and lower in older age groups. The upper limit of normal for ALT is 40 u/L, and the upper limit of normal for AST is 37 u/L (indicated by horizontal lines on graph). Abbreviations: ALT, alanine transaminase; AST, aspartate aminotransferase.
