A case of partial physeal closure following compression injury.

S V Skak1.

Abstract

A case of injury to the distal femoral physis in a 10-year-old girl has been followed from the day of the accident to the development of conspicuous valgus deformity 1 year and 2 months later. The lesion was caused by compressive forces. Later tomograms indicated a fine mesh of bony beams passing through a continuous and apparently intact growth plate rather than one single bridge. The case appears to be an example of the disputed Salter-Harris type-V lesion.
