Abstract
BACKGROUND: Chylous ascites is the pathologic leakage of triglycerides-rich lymphatic fluid into the peritoneal cavity. Chylous ascites is a rare complication in abdominal surgery. This study aimed to find a relatively better method for nutrition support in the treatment of chylous ascites after abdominal surgery.Entities:

Notes: (A) The S group (28 patients treated with somatostatin). (B) The NS group (22 patients treated without somatostatin). The S group showed significant decrease on the first day (P<0.001). The NS group showed no obvious decrease (P=0.161) (paired samples t-test).
Abbreviations: S group, treatment with somatostatin or octreotide; NS group, no treatment.
