Abstract
OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of vaginal estradiol (E2) softgel capsules for moderate-to-severe symptoms of vulvar and vaginal atrophy (VVA). Previous phase 1 studies showed lower systemic estrogen concentrations with this softgel capsule compared with an approved low-dose vaginal E2 tablet.Entities:

FIG. 1Changes from baseline in the maturation index of the vaginal smear (least squares [LS] means and standard errors [SE]). ∗P values represent significant differences in LS mean change from baseline to day 15 between the vaginal E2 softgel capsule and placebo using ANCOVA with treatment as a fixed effect and baseline as a covariate. Numerical values are rounded to the nearest whole number.

Numerical values are rounded to the nearest tenth. aAtrophy subjectively assessed as 0 = none, 1 = mild, 2 = moderate, and 3 = severe.
