Abstract
This work reports on the isolation and characterization of two glutamine auxotrophs in Neurospora crassa. The mutations responsible for the glutamine-requiring phenotype were very closely linked, and one of them proved to be recessive to wild type. The mutations impaired the conversion of glutamic acid to glutamine and resulted in changes of both the activity and oligomeric structure of the enzyme glutamine synthetase.Entities:
