Abstract
BACKGROUND: The study aimed to investigate the clinical value of velocity vector imaging (VVI) in assessing heart function in fetuses of pregnant women with thyroid dysfunction. The inter-observer and intra-observer variability was assessed for all VVI parameters observed.Entities:

Figure 5Peak velocities (cm/s), strains (%) and strain rates (S−1) in both ventricles in the control, hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism groups. SRs and SRd were significantly lower in all 6 segments in all gestational ages when compared to the control group (P<0.01). The global S, the global SRs, and the global SRd revealed significant decreases in the hyperthyroidism group when compared to the control group (P<0.05). The study suggests the maternal gestational hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism may have damaged fetal cardiac function.
