Abstract
BACKGROUND: Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in south-east Asia and is still emerging from the events of the Khmer Rouge reign. It has been suggested that the atrocities experienced by the Cambodian population can explain why Cambodia continues to lag behind its neighbours in economic outcomes. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether there is an association between exposure to past trauma and/or current poor mental health and current economic status in Cambodia.Entities:

Significance indicated at ** 5% and *** 1% level and indicates differences between the regions.
Multivariate logistic regressions of different measures of trauma exposure in association with three economic outcomes, odds ratios and stratified by region.

Logistic regressions of each separate economic outcome are performed in relation to each separate trauma exposure measure, i.e. the models are not simultaneously adjusted for other measures of trauma exposure. All models are adjusted for age, education, marital status and self-assessed health. The household wealth regressions are also adjusted for household size while the economic inactivity regressions are also adjusted for gender.
