Abstract
Chronic inflammation is associated with tumorigenesis, but how acute inflammation affects the tumor microenvironment is less known. Recently, Antonio et al. (2015) found that neutrophils attracted to an acute wound such as a biopsy drive cell proliferation of nearby pre-neoplastic cells, suggesting that acute wounds may promote cancer progression.Entities:
