Abstract
A 55-year-old male with progressively worsening hoarseness was found to have a vocal cord polyp of >10 mm in diameter on the right true cord. It was necessary to remove the polyp in order to prevent airway obstruction by prolapse. However, the patient was a poor candidate for resection by standard otolaryngologic procedures because of the large size of the polyp and because he had a symptomatic cervical disc herniation. Therefore, endoscopic resection under general anesthesia using a bipolar electrocautery snare was selected. This case was our first attempt to treat a vocal cord polyp using this technique, and we found that polypectomy with the bipolar snare was an efficient and safe method for the treatment of this lesion.Entities:
