Abstract
BACKGROUND: We sought to construct a general methodology for objectively quantifying the learning curve associated with any surgical technique and to determine the number of cases needed to achieve a success rate of 90% for the technique of transforaminal endoscopic lumbar discectomy. To our knowledge, no other studies have observed the learning curve of endoscopic lumbar discectomy by transforaminal approach.Entities:

MacNab Criteria
| Result | Criteria |
|---|---|
| Excellent | Patient is asymptomatic; medication is not required. |
| Good | Patient recovers fully from sciatica symptoms but requires occasional medication for residual or recurrent pain. |
| Fair | Patient recovers partially and requires regular medication. |
| Poor | Patient does not improve or recover or recovers only par-tially, requiring medication on a regular basis; patient not satisfied with the surgical results. |
