Abstract
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C20H20N2O3·H2O, contains two independent mol-ecules (A and B), with similar conformations and two independent water mol-ecules. In the crystal, N-H⋯O and Owater-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link all moieties into two crystallographically independent kinds of sheets parallel to the ac plane. These independent sheets, each containing either A or B mol-ecules, are further alternately stacked along the b axis and inter-connected via C-H⋯πar-yl inter-actions.Entities:

| Experimental. All the solvents employed were of analytical grade. Starting materials and
reagents were purchased from Sigma Chemical co. (Saint Louis, USA). The
reaction progress was monitored by thin layer chromatography using TLC Silica
gel 60 F254 (Merck), and spots were visualized by using ultraviolet light of
254 nm. Melting point was determined by using open capillary and uncorrected
value is given. 1 |
| Geometry. All s.u.'s (except the s.u. in the dihedral angle between two l.s. planes) are estimated using the full covariance matrix. The cell s.u.'s are taken into account individually in the estimation of s.u.'s in distances, angles and torsion angles; correlations between s.u.'s in cell parameters are only used when they are defined by crystal symmetry. An approximate (isotropic) treatment of cell s.u.'s is used for estimating s.u.'s involving l.s. planes. |
